A huge thanks to our hard-working volunteers for their help on Saturday July 21! We had a successful trail stewardship day on a section of a very busy Lantern Creek trail near Picklejar Lakes. The weather was great for our crew of 6 Friends and 2 staff from Alberta Parks as we worked to create about 30 metres of new trail and decommission some others in an area of multiple trails close to the first lake. A late afternoon squall signaled the end of our day as we made our way back to the valley along with a LOT of other hikers.
The experience today really highlighted how popular and busy so much of Kananaskis Country can be and the need for ongoing trail maintenance to minimize impact on the landscape and improve the experience for trail users. Looking forward to our next trail day this Thursday July 26 on the Wind Ridge trail.
