Friends of Kananaskis Country Legacy Fund

February 25, 2020 By //  by Nancy Ouimet

Some of our best adventures and memories happen in Kananaskis Country – exploring the trails, deep forests, towering peaks and clear mountain streams. It is a place where we can all connect with the natural world.

As people who love Kananaskis Country’s outdoors, we have the power to help ensure its open spaces, safe trails, and wide mountain vistas are accessible today, tomorrow, and beyond.

We are pleased to announce the creation of the Friends of Kananaskis Country Legacy Fund. The Fund, administered by the Calgary Foundation, was established to provide support for the Friend’s mission: building a community of volunteers and partners to maintain the ecological integrity and recreational use of Kananaskis Country by engaging in trail care, stewardship, education, and research.

The protected capital in the Fund will generate an income stream in perpetuity which will be used where most needed, in support of trail stewardship, communications and education. Whether it’s responding to flood damage or taking advantage of a new opportunity to expand our trail network, the Friends of Kananaskis Country Legacy Fund will allow us to respond where most needed when high-priority needs and opportunities arise.

You can make a lasting impact on our trails and wildlands by making a gift to the Friends of Kananaskis Country Legacy Fund. As with annual contributions, every gift the Friends of Kananaskis Country receives, regardless of the size, furthers our cause and strengthens the organization.

FUND PURPOSE: ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
FUND BALANCE: $10,000 (as of 2020-02-25)
INITIAL FUND GOAL: $100,000 by 2030
