We post all the volunteer projects and upcoming events here. Please do NOT just show up for a volunteer project. It is important to Sign Up First to insure we have sufficient tools, equipment, supervision and to be able to notify you of project changes.
Final touches still needed on Prairie Creek Trail (multi-use trail used for hiking, biking, and horseback riding).
Meeting time: 9:00am (9:00am-4:00pm)
Meeting location: Powderface Day Use – go through Bragg Creek to Kananaskis Country. Turn right (West) on Hwy 66 to Powderface Day Use, just passed Elbow Falls. (we’ll be meeting here and then driving to the trail head via Powderface Trail).
What to expect: The level of effort will range from low to medium and mainly include bundling willow stakes to help stabilize the trail and creek banks around an area that has had drainage issues.
What to bring: You’ll need to wear hiking boots and bring work gloves (Friends of Kananaskis work gloves will be available), rain gear (hopefully not needed), along with your lunch, water, sunscreen, bug spray, bear spray, and other personal gear. All of the tools and equipment will be supplied by Parks.
SIGN UP HERE (sign up closes at 12pm the day prior to the event).
Volunteer Agreement Form: All volunteers working on an Alberta Parks – Public Land project need to fill out this Volunteer Agreement Form.
The form can be filled out once, and valid for the entire season by filling out the ‘Termination of Agreement’ section at the bottom of the form and adding date ‘December 31, 2016’. To accelerate the paperwork process, print and fill out this form prior to the trail care day. Please present your completed form to the Friends of KC Crew Leader.
Note: Should weather not cooperate and we need to cancel, we will notify you by email around 12pm the day before the event.
How to cancel a sign up: Should you have to cancel, here are the steps:
1. Log into the volunteer sign up system
2. Go to the tab ‘Schedule’
3. All Trail Days you have signed up for are listed here
4. Click ‘Decline’ for the Trail Day you want to cancel.
You can do the above steps up to 24 hours prior to the event. Post 24 hours, you need to advise and email Nancy Ouimet, Program Coordinator at nancy@kananaskis.org
