Peter Lougheed Provincial Park – tree cleanup of Snowshoe Trail expansion project
June 28-29
We have had an 11th hour request for volunteer help from Alberta Environment & Parks who need help with cleaning up cut debris from their snowshoe trail expansion project work. They’re looking for volunteers this week on June 28 & 29th. Ideally you are available earlier in the day (proposed start 9 AM) but there is some flexibility.
Meeting time: 9:00am (9am – 3 pm)
Meeting location: Pocaterra Hut / Trailhead
Number of people: 5 to 10/day
What to expect: This work will involve traveling snowshoe trails with an Alberta Parks staff member to clean out cut branches/trees in preparation for machine access in early July for trail work to expand the snowshoe trail network for next winter. Alberta Parks will provide all necessary tools to complete the task. It is moderate level of work and there is some flexibility on work hours. Expect about 6hrs of work in the field each day.
What to bring: Come prepared to work all day in an outdoor environment. Dress in layers, rain gear, hat, sunglasses & sunscreen, gloves along with your lunch, water for the day, bear spray, and other personal gear. All of the tools and equipment will be supplied.
Volunteer Agreement Form: All volunteers working on an Alberta Parks project need to fill out this Volunteer Agreement Form.
The form can be filled out once, and remain valid for the entire season by filling out the ‘Termination of Agreement’ section at the bottom of the form and adding date ‘December 31, 2018’. To accelerate the paperwork process, print and fill out this form prior to the work day. Please present your completed form to the AB parks staff member.
