Peter Lougheed Park Snowshoe Trail Work

September 22, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Peter Lougheed Park Winter Snowshoe Trails

Help get the expanded PLPP snowshoe trail network ready for winter! We’ll be helping AB Parks with some trail refinement behind excavator work that was done on the new trail system. We’ll be working on trails near Pocaterra, Elkwood and Boulton Bridge.

Dates:  Saturday September 8

Meeting time: 9:00am (work hours: 9:00am – 3:00pm)

SIGN UP HERE (after clicking link, scroll down to “Peter Lougheed Provincial Park”)

Meeting location: TBD – we’ll confirm meeting spot prior to trail days

Number of people: 5/day

What to expect:  This is medium-level difficulty work, with some raking of the trail and upper and lower bank in places, likely a little Pulaski and/or rogue hoe work to improve tread and drainage, and some bush removal from the edges of the trail.  There also may be some pulling/clipping of shepherdia bushes (a.k.a. Buffalo berry) if time allows.

What to bring: You’ll need to wear hiking boots and bring work gloves (work gloves will be available), rain gear (hopefully not needed), along with your lunch, water, sunscreen, bear spray, and other personal gear. All of the tools and equipment will be supplied.

Note: Should weather not cooperate and we need to cancel, we will notify you by email around 12pm the day before the event.

Sign up closes at 12pm on the day before the event.

Volunteer Agreement Form: Volunteers will need to fill out this AB Parks Volunteer Agreement Form.

The form can be filled out once, and valid for the entire season by filling out the ‘Termination of Agreement’ section at the bottom of the form and adding date ‘December 31, 2018’. To accelerate the paperwork process, print and fill out this form prior to the trail care day. Please present your completed form to the FKC or CTA Crew Leader.
