Galatea Creek Trail was significantly damaged by the 2013 flood. The Bow Valley trail crew will be working several weeks on this project and are requesting our help. Work will include building a new trail.

Meeting location: Galatea Day Use Area
From Canmore, drive 35 km east on Highway 1 towards Calgary to the Highway 40 exit and drive south into Kananaskis Country. The trailhead is 32 km. south at the Galatea Day Use area.

What to expect: The level of effort will range from medium to difficult and include hand tool work such as digging a new trail, removing duff and earth with picks and pulaskis, and shoveling/raking out rutting. NOTE: 1 hour hike to work site.
What to bring: You’ll need to wear hiking boots and bring work gloves (Friends of Kananaskis work gloves will be available), rain gear (hopefully not needed), along with your lunch, water, sunscreen, bug spray, bear spray, and other personal gear. All of the tools and equipment will be supplied by Parks.
