We post all the volunteer projects and upcoming events here. Please do NOT just show up for a volunteer project. It is important to Sign Up First to insure we have sufficient tools, equipment, supervision and to be able to notify you of project changes.
The Friends launched the Canmore Trail Alliance (CTA) in May, 2016 to engage trail users and local land stewards in trail maintenance and building in the Canmore Area through community initiatives that improve Canmore’s recreational opportunities, enhance its trail conditions, and emphasize the importance of ecological integrity and sustainability.
Community trail days are every Thursday night from 6-9pm. No sign up required.
Meeting time: 6:00pm (6-9pm)
Meeting location: Canmore Nordic Centre – Lower dirt parking lot
What to expect: The level of effort will range from medium to difficult and include hand tool work such as digging a new trail, removing duff and earth with picks and pulaskis, and shoveling/raking out rutting.
What to bring: You’ll need to wear sturdy footwear (like hiking boots) and bring work gloves, rain gear (hopefully not needed), along with food, water and other personal gear. All tools and equipment will be supplied.
We will be biking to the work site, meet at the lower dirt parking lot with your bike and helmet!
Volunteer Agreement Form: You will need to fill out this Volunteer Agreement Form.
The form can be filled out once, and valid for the entire season by filling out the ‘Termination of Agreement’ section at the bottom of the form and adding date ‘December 31, 2016’.
To accelerate the paperwork process, you can print and fill out this form prior to the trail day. Please present your completed form to the Canmore Trail Alliance – Crew Leader.
Note: Should we have to cancel a trail day – it will be posted on the website and facebook page.
