CHESTER SAWMILL WINTER TRAILS

We’re ready to continue working on the approved winter trails for the Chester-Sawmill Winter Trails System! This is year 3 of a project led by the Friends to re-introduce 12+ km of winter trails. The majority of this work will include brushing overgrown ski or forestry roads. The below picture gives you an idea of what the trails look like before and after. We will be working on the #5 and #6 red dashed lines in the below map.

Dates: August 28-29 / September 4-5-11-13-16

Meeting time: 9:30am (work day: 9:30am –3:30pm)

Meeting location: Sawmill Day Use

Number of people: 12/day

What to expect: The level of effort will be low-moderate and include brushing a 2 m corridor cutting trees and shrubs.

What to bring: Come prepared to work all day in an outdoor environment. Dress in layers, bring a backpack and rain gear, hat, sunglasses & sunscreen, supportive footwear (i.e. sturdy hiking boots), work gloves, along with your lunch, snacks, water for the day, bear spray, and any other personal items you may want/need (i.e. medications). All tools will be supplied.
