Big Elbow Loop Rock Clearing

September 17, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Hikers needed! The 2013 flood washed away fine materials from several sections of the Big Elbow Trail between Elbow Lake and Tombstone Campground, leaving loose rocks which make for difficult travel.

Meeting Time: 9:00am (9am – 5pm)

Meeting Location: Elbow Pass Day Use

Number of people needed: 6

What to Expect: This trail day will primarily include hiking 12-14km (return) to the intersection of the Sheep and Elbow trails and involve clearing and dispersing loose rocks from short sections of trail by hand.

What to Expect: This trail day will primarily include hiking 12-14km return (elevation gain ~200 meters) to the intersection of the Sheep and Elbow trails. We will be leaving from the Elbow Pass Day Use, hiking approximately 1.5 kilometers to Elbow Lake, then towards Tombstone Mountain for approximately 2.7 kilometers and then east arriving at the intersection of the Sheep and Elbow trails 6 kilometers from the trailhead. At this intersection the camping site is approximately 1 kilometer from this intersection. While hiking, you will be clearing and dispersing rocks on the trail, which will involve a lot of bending and stooping. This will be a big return hike, taking upwards of 7-8 hours to hike and disperse rocks.

Volunteer Agreement Form: All volunteers working on a Alberta Parks project need to fill out this Volunteer Agreement Form.

The form can be filled out once, and valid for the entire season by filling out the ‘Termination of Agreement’ section at the bottom of the form and adding date ‘December 31, 2016’.

To accelerate the paperwork process, print and fill out this form prior to the trail care day. Please present your completed form to the Friends of KC Crew Leader.

Note: Should weather not cooperate and we need to cancel, we will notify you by email around 12pm the day before the event.
