Monitoring Human Use of Wildlife Corridors in the Bow Valley around Canmore
Join Park Ecologist – John Paczkowski with Alberta Environment and Parks, in exploring some of the wildlife and human use data collected in wildlife corridors and habitat patches around the Town of Canmore.
In addition to historical data, John will present interim results from the Human Use Management Review (HUMR) monitoring program. More than 1.5 million images, collected from over 100 wildlife camera sites, show that humans represent over 94% of the recorded sightings in wildlife corridors and habitat patches, which may have implications on the wildlife species around Canmore.
The HUMR monitoring program is a collaborative effort with the Alberta Parks, Town of Canmore, and Friends of Kananaskis Country.
